Friendly's - South Weymouth: Family-Friendly Dining & Classic Ice Cream Treats

Service is great and friendly. I haven’t seen a friendly’s handle a packed restaurant this good in ages. One of the staff members went out of their way to deliver the ice cream that the DoorDash driver didn’t wait for because they were in a rush. Manager is also wicked friendly. Great team of employees and well managed restaurant.

Such a great selection of food here. I cannot recommend enough the Doritos cool ranch chopped burger. It comes with a happy ending sundae, but you might have to take it to go because the burger itself is so filling and will leave you so satisfied. It does have pepper jack cheese and jalapeños, so if spice isn’t your thing you could always get the Legendary Honey Barbecue chicken melt. It’s legendary for a reason! Staff is friendly and welcoming. I love coming here.

It is a national tragedy that there aren’t more Friendly’s around, because this place is basically a sanctuary for parents who just want to eat without performing hostage negotiations with a toddler. I brought my two-year-old here fully expecting chaos, and somehow she acted like a civilized human. I don’t know what kind of sorcery they pump through the vents, but it works. Are they understaffed? Absolutely. You can practically see the servers aging in real time. Is the food salty? YES — so salty my cholesterol called its lawyer. But honestly? Worth every grain. Because while the food is seasoned like the ocean, the atmosphere is seasoned for parents: loud, chaotic, and literally impossible for your kid to ruin. My daughter had a blast. I got to sit down for more than 30 seconds. Nobody glared at us. Nobody complained. And the ice cream came fast enough to prevent a meltdown — which is the real Michelin star. If you want fine dining, go somewhere else. If you want peace, ice cream, and a judgment-free zone for small, noisy humans, Friendly’s is basically a spa.

The food is good. Perfect for bringing a kid. I'm really glad this location is still open. The service is always friendly and attentive. The seating is clean and well maintained. There's an ice cream outside window as well and plenty of parking. The only knock is that some of the adult food prices are a bit head scratching. They have a summer lobster roll for like $26. I'd try a lobster roll from Friendly's for like $16, or maybe even $18. But that price is comparable with one from a shack on the beach and so, I'd rather get one there.

Our server was so attentive and awesome. She was so funny and made us feel right at home, I wish we caught her name. All food came out good and the ice cream was great. The bill was so cheap too! Love this place. It’s very nostalgic too I used to come here a lot as a kid.

I've grown up with Friendly and have many fond memories of visiting going way back to the 70s. This particular branch did a great job with our meals. The waitress was very professional, friendly and prompt. The food was very good too. Came out hot and cooked properly. The clam chowder was excellent. A very traditional flavor. Plenty of parking. The dining area was neat and clean. Overall, very satisfied

{09/07/2025} - this is one of my favorite restaurants. the servers here are always very sweet and attentive. i got the chicken quesadilla, chocolate fribble, and fries this time and all were amazing. the rewards program is also very worth it here, and at the time of going they have a 90¢ any soda any flavor of ice cream float if you dine in.

An old American family dine in. A good place to spend with your kids, as they offer good variety of ice cream desserts. . Overall all the other food is not really tasty, and I think is even not cooked there, but taken from boxes. Like not real mashed potatoes, clam chowder, turkey gravy, even turkey if it really was turkey, was oversalted. Also very limited variety of drinks. I would come here only for ice cream desserts .
